When I was in New York, there was a small space in Greenwich Village that my daughter took me to called The Uncommons. It is full of tables and shelves floor to ceiling full of board games. You pay a five dollar cover and can purchase drinks and snacks while you are there (appetizer-style snacks). Then you can sit and play board games (we did this on a rainy day). The place was packed and was very fun with tables talking to each other and no one was staring at their phone! There were a few tables with groups playing Dungeons and Dragons and other role-playing games. The establishment had extended into another store space next door. This would be a great addition to the neighborhood--a fun place to spend an afternoon or an evening. With all of the high density housing going up in the area it could be a fun gathering space for people to build community.
